The preparation is what makes a driveway last. We excavate to the right depth, lay and compact a solid sub-base, and only then bring in the finished surface.

Block paving, gravel and other finishes are all available, with edging and drainage detailing to suit the property. We'll walk you through the options at the quote stage.

Old concrete, cracked tarmac or tired paving? We break out and remove existing surfaces as part of the job.

What kind of driveway projects do you take on?

Everything from a straightforward single-car drive to full renovations, across Waterlooville, Portsmouth and the surrounding Hampshire area. Surface choice, ground conditions and what's being dug out shape every job, so we quote fixed from a look at the drive.

The job we're proudest of recently was exactly this kind of work: a full driveway renovation in Horndean, with car ports and retaining walls built as part of the same project. One team, one quote, start to finish.

Blocks are also repairable in a way poured surfaces aren't: a stained or sunken patch can be lifted and relaid instead of the whole drive coming up.

Block paving, gravel or porcelain: which should I choose?

Block paving gives you pattern, edging and repairability, and it's the classic choice for a front drive. Gravel is usually the least to install of the three and drains naturally, as long as it has proper edging to keep it where you put it. Porcelain is the modern option: non-slip, frost-resistant and low maintenance.

We fit all three, and the honest answer depends on your ground, your budget and how the drive gets used. That's a five-minute conversation at the free quote visit.

    What makes a driveway last?

The part you never see: excavation to the right depth and a properly compacted sub-base. A driveway carries cars, so a surface laid on poor foundations will sink and spread whatever it's made of.

That's why our quotes are built around the preparation, with falls and drainage detailing so water goes where it should, not into your garage. It's the same properly-prepared-ground rule as our patios, with heavier loads.

How long does a new driveway take?

Guides allow 3 to 5 days for a block-paved driveway (BookaBuilderUK); the dig-out and sub-base take most of that, and the size of the drive and what's coming out move it either way.

We'll give you the expected days on site with the quote, and we keep the access story straight with you: there'll be a stretch where you can't park on it.

Do you remove the old driveway?

Yes. Old concrete, cracked tarmac or tired paving is broken out and taken away as part of the job, and it's included in our fixed quote rather than a surprise on the invoice.

The waste leaves in the same tidy way as everything else we do: loaded and gone, not skipped on your drive for a fortnight.

How do I get an accurate driveway quote?

Photos of the existing drive, roughly what's under it if you know, and what you'd like instead. Access matters too: where a digger can and can't reach changes the labour more than the surface choice does.

Send photos with the quote form or call 07813 073814. The site visit and the quote are free, and you get one fixed price, agreed before any work starts. If the ground turns up something unexpected, we talk it through with you and give you the options before going any further.
